This photograph shows a section of the inside of Butch Robins' 1930 Gibson RB4 banjo. Several musical visionaries have been invited to autograph this resonator by scratching their names in it, in this photograph we see Pete Oswald, or Bashful Brother Oswald as he was also known. Oswald was very influential in popularizing the resonator guitar, or dobro as it is generally known as, and played in Roy Acuff's band. Butch Robins was born May 12, 1949 in Lebanon, Virginia and has been a professional musician most of his life. In addition to a successful solo career, he was a member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper's band, Charlie Moore's band, the New Grass Revival and other bands.
