Many Gibson banjos have two metal rods that connect the banjo neck to the wooden rim called Coordinator Rods. These rods are used for stability as well as to adjust the neck angle. The top rod acts generally to help hold the neck in place and the bottom rod is used both to hold it in place and to adjust the neck angle. Butch Robins was born May 12, 1949 in Lebanon, Virginia and has been a professional musician most of his life. In addition to a successful solo career, he was a member of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper's band, Charlie Moore's band, the New Grass Revival and other bands.
