This letter to Carl and Rio, in response to their letter of April 20, 1931, John Preston McConnell advises against Rio from visiting the United States in the summer, but to apply any available money alloted for that to travel in Europe. He also advises that Carl is should not at this point mention to any potential employer in the United States any thought that he may be staying in Europe another year but that he himself will be alerting the employment agencies to this fact. The remainder of the letter relates various family news and subtle hints that both Carl and Rio should stay in Europe and should travel there as much as possible.
