- In this letter from John Preston McConnell to Carl and Rio McConnell, Dr. McConnell inquires about Carl's recovery from dental surgery, Carl and Rio's financial situation, and imparts general family information. Carl and Rio were at this time preparing to leave the United States for Jugoslavia so that Carl could study biology as part of a fellowship he was awarded while at the University of Virginia.
