- Description
- This letter to John Preston McConnell, President of The First and Merchants National Bank, and President of The State Teachers College at Radford, alerts Dr. McConnell that a $100 check has been deposited in his account and a $50 check deposited in his son Carl's account. It also contains two deposit slips showing this. An interesting feature is the letter is on The First and Merchants National Bank letterhead, while the deposit slips are on First National Bank letterhead, but with the word Merchants written in pencil between the words First and National. The First and Merchants National Bank had recently formed by the merger of The Farmers and Merchants Bank and the First National Bank.
