- This very short letter to Carl and Rio from John Preston McConnell appears to have been written to tell Carl that Dr. McConnell had paid most of Carl's hospital bill for treatment he received at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. Carl McConnell suffered most of his life from injuries related to his time in World War 1.
