- Description
- In this letter, as well as passing along various family news, John Preston McConnell mentions he has heard that his son Carl has been offered a renewal of his position in Oneota, New York. He is here urging his son to keep that job because even though he might not be happy, jobs are very hard to come by. He points out how hard it is to find work in the teaching field, which of course turned out to be excellent advice sinse at this time, the Great Depression was still in its beginning years. Also of interest is the mention that Carl has overdrawn his bank account by $17. Dr. McConnell had set up a special account in the First and Merchants bank in Radford so that if Carl had a financial problem, money could be drawn from this account.
