Description
May 5-15, 1975 New York University's Loeb Student Center's art committee joined with the Fine Arts Museum of the Women's Interart Center in presenting a series of special events to salute 1975 Women and Art. Alice Neel (1900-1984) was an American visual artist known for portrait work. Her work generally featured women and they were painted as seen from a female perspective which set her work apart from male artist portraiture. Cindy Nemser (1937-2021) was an American art historian and writer and was the founder and editor of the Feminist Art Journal. In this recording, Ms. Nemser interviews Ms. Neel at a Women's Interart Center event.
