- Description
- Another Peace Corps Volunteer and I decided to visit Mashhad, Iran. It was the closest Iranian city to Herat and many things in Herat were imported from Iran. as it turned out, I never took many pictures in Mashhad. I don't remember why, but I have included some pictures of the Afghan road to the border. This is a view of the Herat River close to the border. After passing through Herat and other villages in Afghanistan, there wasn't much water left in the river. The Blair Brainard Peace Corps in Afghanistan Photographic Collection captures the photographers experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Afghanistan, primarily in the city of Herat, 1965-1968.
