Description
Further along after we left the Pistachio forest. we encountered another group on semi-nomads, known as Chahar Aimaq (Four Tribes). Many of these peoples are semi-nomadic in that they have permanent homes where they live and grow crops. But in the spring and early summer they leave their permanent homes and travel locally to find grazing for their animals. The Blair Brainard Peace Corps in Afghanistan Photographic Collection captures the photographers experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Afghanistan, primarily in the city of Herat, 1965-1968.
