- Sometime in early spring of 1966 I took a trip to Kuskh, a small town north of Herat near the border of the Soviert Union. I traveled with an Afghan friend Abdul Razik who worked for the Afghan Ministry of Education. The purpose of the trip was to visit the local schools there. We traveled on the recently completed highway built by the Soviet Union. The Blair Brainard Peace Corps in Afghanistan Photographic Collection captures the photographers experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Afghanistan, primarily in the city of Herat, 1965-1968.
