Joe Jackson, Radford's First Male Undergraduate Student
On June 8, 1972, Radford College President, Donald Dedmon released a statement declaring that Radford College would immediately allow the enrollment of male students to the college as both resident and day students. That summer, Joe Jackson applied and was accepted as the first male undergraduate student. On December 6, 2018 he came to McConnell Library and talked to us about his experiences and memories of those days.- Creator

Among other things, Hank has played in several highly successful bands (Barefoot Manner, The Morning After, Hank and Pattie The Current), and teaches banjo at University of North Carolina. One of the highlights of the afternoon we spent with his was hearing about the time his band opened for the Grateful Dead when they played Raleigh in 2017. Betty Parsons (1900-1982) was an American artist, art dealer, and collector known for her early promotion of abstract expressionism. Vivienne Wechter (1910-2001) was an abstract still life painter and was Professor of the Psychology of Creativity at Fordham University. In this recording, Ms. Wechter interviews Ms. Parsons at a Women's Interart Center event.- Creator

This recording is a panel discussion between four professional artists who participated in Women's Artvance....An Evening of Events in New York City, April 8, either 1973 or 1974. Participating in this discussion are Dorothy Gillespie, Muriel Castanis (1926-2006) an American sculptor, Ann Gillan, and Geraldine Krieger a painter. June Blum (1929-2017), a multimedia American artist who produced paintings, sculptures, prints, light shows, happenings, jewelry, art books, pottery, conceptual documentations, and drawings and was curator of the Suffolk Museum in Stoneybrook, Long Island, NY. Among other topics, they discussed the show Unmanly Art that Ms. Blum had arranged. This interview was conducted by Dorothy Gillespie and is in three parts.
