Sammy Shelor was interviewed and filmed in Floyd, Virginia in February 2014 by Bud Bennett, John Hildreth and Tom Snediker. In this relaxed and candid interview, he talks about his family's musical history, his start in playing banjo, Huber Banjos, the Lonesome River Band and many other things. One of the highlights of the interview was that he sometimes illustrated points in his talk with live banjo playing. Part 2 of the interview starts when Jens and his wife come to America and end up meeting and being befriended by Bill Monroe. The couple stay on Monroe's farm and Jens gets to play at the Grand Ole Opry, do farm work with Monroe and is pretty much treated like a member of Bill's family. When they returned to Switzerland after that, Jens set out to learn all he could about the banjo and it's role in music and eventually decided to move to America for good. He discussed his friendship with Doc Watson and deciding to settle in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina which is where this interview took place. On August 18, 2014 Jens Kruger sat down with a film crew from Radford University and told us about his musical life. In part 1 he tells about his early life in Switzerland, how he started playing the tenor banjo and later the five string banjo, and his start along with his brother Uwe in the music business first as street musicians and later as semi-professionals. Part 1 ends as as he and his wife decide to come to America where they meet up and are befriended by Bill Monroe. On April 4, 2017 Geoff Stelling was interviewed in his workshop office by Radford University, as part of the Banjo Masters interview series. Geoff talked about how he came up with the idea for his wedge fit tone ring design, some of the craftsmen who have worked with him at Stelling, about his move from California to Virginia, and much more. There was even an impromptu tour of the workshop we were able to include in this, part 1 of the interview. Stelling Banjo Works Ltd is located in Heards, Virginia.
