This short note to Carl and Rio is another example of how John Preston McConnell would write frequent notes to his children throughout the week just to keep in touch. The only point of interest is a mention of having not heard yet from Senator Byrd, which is in reference to a previous letters where Dr. McConnell asked some of his politician friends to assist Carl in securing a job, starting with a letter from Carl dated May 20, 1934. He frequently asked his friends and contacts at various institutions to help in these matters and occasionally asked politicians to lend some influence as well.- Creator

In this short note to Carl, John Preston McConnell asks Carl if he has received a $5 check that Dr. McConnell sent to Carl's son Preston. In two previous letters he mentioned that he was sending the check but apparently after checking his account, he is not sure that he ever sent it. Over the years, Dr. McConnell had occasionally sent money to Carl and Rio and on the occasions that the check did not arrive, he would go through great lengths to track the money down.- Creator

He mentions that he gets half the yeild and the other half goes to the men who cultivated it.- Creator
